SoutH2 Corridor highlighted as a European Energy Highways
The European Commission proposed in December 2025 the European Grids Package and the Energy Highways Initiative – as announced by EC President von der Leyen in her 2025 State of the Union address on 10th September 2025 - to lower energy prices and to ensure security of supply as well as energy independence.

Trilateral Working Group in Southern German – Milestones and key enabling conditions for the implementation of the SoutH2 Corridor
The 5th Trilateral Working Group Meeting took place in Stuttgart on 7 March 2025, and was participated by representatives of the governments of Germany, Austria and Italy, and Switzerland as observer. The meeting focused on the next steps for the development of the SoutH2 Corridor.

Milestone for the SoutH2 Corridor – Five Countries Sign Declaration of Political Intent in Rome
Italy, Austria, Germany, Algeria and Tunisia signed a Joint Declaration of Political Intent in Rome on the Southern Hydrogen Corridor, a major infrastructure project that will establish a renewable hydrogen pipeline from North Africa to central Europe.
