Trilateral Working Group in Southern German – Milestones and key enabling conditions for the implementation of the SoutH2 Corridor

The 5th Trilateral Working Group Meeting took place in Stuttgart on 7 March 2025, and was participated by representatives of the governments of Germany, Austria and Italy, and Switzerland as observer. The meeting focused on the next steps for the development of the SoutH2 Corridor.

Milestone for the SoutH2 Corridor – Five Countries Sign Declaration of Political Intent in Rome

Italy, Austria, Germany, Algeria and Tunisia signed a Joint Declaration of Political Intent in Rome on the Southern Hydrogen Corridor, a major infrastructure project that will establish a renewable hydrogen pipeline from North Africa to central Europe.

Hydrogen production: TE H2 and Verbund have signed a MOU with the Republic of Tunisia

Verbund and TE H2, a joint undertaking of TotalEnergies and EREN Groupe, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Republic of Tunisia to study the implementation of the large-scale hydrogen production project named “H2 Notos” in South Tunisia.

Italy, Austria and Germany signed a joint declaration of intent (JDOI)

The German, Austrian and Italian ministries responsible for energy today signed a joint declaration of intent in the presence of EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, with the intention of further intensifying cooperation on the creation of a hydrogen corridor.
